Jeweler's Hobby Magnifier
This ("Jeweler's lighted high-power magnifier visor") was my third
attempt to find a satisfactory magnifier visor. My first purchase, a
sugeon's model, worked well but lacked adjustable magnification and had
no light. The second was far worse. While it had essentially the same
features as the Jeweler's, it fell to pieces after only minutes
(literally) of nothing more strenuous than being perched on my forehead.
The lenses were similarly problematic, offering poor focus, especially
on the periphery and when used in combinations. The 2 led lights,
attached one to each temple area of the visor, were simply awful.
Lacking adjustment. The provide illumination to the left and right of
the object of your attention, and even then are rather dim. This is, I
must add, when they are functioning, since on several occasions the
battery case covers spontaneously liberated themselves and their battery
friends onto my floor.

This model, in contrast, is (mostly) of a
solid build, with higher quality plastic used in the lenses which work
well alone and combination, and resist periphery distortion. The led
lights are really quite good; bright and adjustable in both pan and
tilt. The only immediate problem is the swivel monocle, which while
clear and strong, came loose of it's perch as flopped haplessly,
enslaved to gravity. A philips screwdriver fixed the symptoms but the
problem is a particularly cheap design for this lens' swivel mechanism;
it promises ongoing inconvenience.
Jeweler's Hobby Magnifier
Yet this is a minor quibble. For the money, this is far and away the best choice I've found.
